JGR Teenager Drives Clean Race to 27th Place Finish at First NBS
RICHMOND, VA - In his first NASCAR Busch Series
short-track race, Joe Gibbs Racing rookie Brad Coleman drove the No. 18
Carino's Italian Grill Chevrolet to a 27th place finish in the Circuit
City 250 at Richmond International Raceway. The performance put him in
the Top 6 non-Nextel Cup drivers to complete the race, with the first 17
finishing positions going to Cup drivers.
"Our car was great in practice but we couldn't get it dialed in for the
night race until late in the contest," stated Coleman. "I feel like we
worked really hard together to try and get it right throughout the
evening, but just did not get it done. I'm disappointed for my team
because I wanted to follow-up our Top 10 at Talladega with a Top 10 at
Richmond. Now I have to wait six weeks for my next race."
The Richmond race, Coleman's sixth for JGR, capped off a successful
first-third of his 17 race season for the Gibbs organization, with his
next event coming at Kentucky Speedway on June 16. Coleman's last visit
to Kentucky was in July of 2006 where he held off seven-time ARCA
Champion Frank Kimmel in two green-white-checkered re-starts to win his
first major stock car race.
Coleman closed by adding, "I am looking forward to Kentucky for a whole
lot of reasons. It will be fun to race at a track I have been to before
and am a little familiar with. It will also be the longest six weeks of
