WINCHESTER, INDIANA/HOLMDEL, NJ . . . “We qualified 12th and we were running well,” was how Dominick Casola started to describe the Sunday Winchester ARCA 200. “And then our luck just seemed to turn sour.”
Casola had moved the Andy Belmont owned Ford into the top ten early in the race when he got caught up in a multi-car wreck that damaged the radiator and that hurt the motor. The result was an early departure from the ARCA RE/MAX Series race.
The team was credited with a 25th place finish and 82 laps completed.
“I loved the track. (Winchester is a half-mile, banked asphalt oval.) Andy (Belmont) is a great driver coach and he told me how to run the high banks,” said the Holmdel, NJ racer. “It is a huge advantage to have someone like Andy to show me the way around the tracks I have not been to before.
“We just need to improve our luck. I am anxious to get to our next race. I have heard some great things about Kentucky Speedway. I am told it is similar to Nashville Superspeedway and Kansas Speedway. I think we can have an impressive run with our A.Casola Farms Ford. Maybe I should be looking for a rabbit‘s foot or a four leaf clover.”
The ARCA RE/MAX Series will be featured in the Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 on Saturday night, May 12th at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, KY.
Practice is set for 10:30 a.m. with SIM Factory Pole Award Qualifying taking place at 4 p.m. The race will get the green at 8 p.m.
A LIVE Josh Gracin concert will be included in the evening’s activities.
Then on Sunday, May 20th the ARCA RE/MAX Series heads to Toledo, Ohio Speedway for the Hantz Group 200 presented by Federated Car Care takes place. The race will be live on SPEED at 12 noon (ET).
PIT NOTE: Hard luck continued for Dominick and his family after the race. When they got back to the Newark, NJ Airport they found that someone had broken into their vehicle, smashing the lock and shattering the front window while helping themselves to the vehicle’s navigation system
