The grass hadn't even started growing on Bill France Jr.'s grave before the kids sold out to Coca Cola
One of the most respectable qualities abotu Bill France Sr. and Jr. were their devotion and loyalty to the sponsors who had stuck with NASCAR through its infancy and golden age. Sponsors like Pepsi, 76 gasoline, etc.
Well, shortly after France Jr. passed on, the announcement was made that ISC was severing its ties Pepsi Co. (a relationship that dated back to the 60s I believe) and was signing a major deal with Coca Cola that included renaming the Dayotna July race the "Coca Cola 400".
What does this signal for the future of the sport when old relationships are tossed aside in the name of making money?
